A few truths about me:
1. I am a perfectionist. If I can’t do something well, I don’t do it at all.
2. I am a procrastinator. If I feel like I can’t accomplish EVERYTHING, I accomplish NOTHING.
3. I am horrible with time-management.
Basically, it’s really quite amazing that I do anything throughout the day other than feed myself and wipe my ass.
A few truths about fitness:
1. There will be failure. There has to be. Challenge creates room for failure and challenge is needed to test the body’s limits.
2. Sitting on one’s ass all day thinking about a fitness plan is not, in fact, a fitness plan.
3. I sat down to write this at 8:00 pm. It is now 9:00 pm. (What? I had email.)
At the beginning of the Go Green Get Fit Challenge, I set a few (knowingly unspecific) goals for myself. So far, I’ve been keeping up with my goal of paddling once a week, but it’s starting to get harrrrrrrd. (Did I mention I’m a little bit of a whiner, too?) The last paddle I took with Hubs, we traveled at least 2 miles, and on the return trip, I had to take constant breaks to rest my burning arm muscles.
“Do you need me to tow you?”
“No, I’ll be fine.” Meanwhile, my arms felt like the burning, floppy tentacles of the jellyfish floating beneath my boat.
So, the perfectionist in me thinks, “I can’t fail at this any longer. I need to start weight training for strength.” And the procrastinator says, “Tomorrow.” And the bad time-manager says, “Huh?”
Thankfully, it was about this time that my pal Stephanie from Good Girl Gone Green “liked” a comment on Facebook and it led me to check out Go Kaleo. I’m finding a ton of inspiration and enthusiasm for working out via Amber’s posts and from, my favorite, her Basic Lifting Routine. It’s quick, attainable, and produces results. Let’s go!
I’ve completed Day 1 and realized I need heavier weights. And then on Day 2 I got distracted by something shiny on Twitter and forgot to work out before Bear woke from his nap…
Clearly, I need help.
Who’s going to be my workout buddy?
