When you think there is nothing more to say, nothing more to reveal, nothing more to shed light upon in the natural birth arena, glowing, gorgeous LIGHT, exactly that, comes along by the name of Sacred Pregnancy.
Author of popular books such as Ice Pop Joy, The Organic Family Cookbook, and Naturally Fun Parties for Kids, Anni Daulter brings another element of honor and grace to the incredible miracle that is birth. Anni has started a movement, empowering women by asking all to respect the “transformational beautiful journey” of pregnancy. Sacred Pregnancy is a guidebook through that journey, while the magazine of the same name is a quarterly periodical meant to inspire, support, advise, and provide a sounding board for women and men alike while they are ushering in new life.
What struck me first about Sacred Pregnancy magazine is the dual message of “You have power!” and “Slow down!” that is sent via every thoughtful phrase and gorgeous photo. The magazine certainly sends an “earthy” vibe, fitting of a magazine dedicated to one of this world’s most ancient processes. Within its pages, I found concepts about pregnancy of which I had not considered, such as examining one’s chakras, or the time-honored tradition of “mother roasting.” (You’ll have to read to find more about that one!) I was surprised to find recipes, nutrition facts, and beauty tips throughout the magazine. Anni Daulter reminds all of us that using words such as “sacred,” “honor,” and “transformational,” doesn’t mean neglecting modern ideals and societal expectations.
Through its multitude of gorgeous images and inspiring words from reputable authors and birth experts, Sacred Pregnancy not only gives us the tools to harbor sanctity in pregnancy, but the confidence to accept reverence surrounding it, too.
I am so excited and moved the Sacred Pregnancy Movement; I hope you will take a look and share your thoughts, too. A limited preview of the magazine can be viewed on the Sacred Pregnancy website.
Is modern birth getting the honor it deserves? Do we need more outlets such as Sacred Pregnancy to turn respect towards the immense power women hold?
