Always forgetting your reusable bag?

I’ve gotten to the point where I can count on one hand the number of plastic bags we have in our house. And before you say, “Why isn’t that number zero?,” let’s just remember that a toddler + life sometimes requires a plastic bag. 😉 For all other uses, though, I take a reusable bag–and I don’t just mean to the grocery store! Think about the number of shopping excursions you may go on where the clerk is shoving your items into a plastic bag. The holiday season will be here before we know it. If you’re planning on shopping in stores, use these ideas to help you remember those reusable bags!

1)One of the most popular brands of reusables is Envirosax. They are available in all types of patterns and colors (I’ve been pining for this Sesame Street set for ages). I adore the set I do have and I think they’re so lovely that I display them! I keep a pretty flower pot by the door and my Envirosax hang out there. I generally don’t forget them in that location as I walk out the door.

2)If you purchase an attractive reusable bag, let it double as your purse. This strategy may not be for everyone, I understand. However, when I go grocery shopping, I pick out a bag that looks best with my outfit, throw my wallet, phone, and other reusable bags into it, and then hang it on the cup holder of the grocery cart as I shop. At the checkout lane, I pull out my wallet and phone, hand the bag of bags to the cashier, and I’m done!

3)What works best for me on a day-to-day basis is to keep a reusable bag on my keyring. Not only is it a convenient way to keep a bag on hand, it’s a visual reminder to bring other bags with me if I need them! Some friends gave me a gift wrapped in this bag,from Chico Bag, in the “Earth” pattern and I keep it with me all of the time. I ran across these bags recently and think they’re a pretty cute option, too!

Some may think I’m quirky for not accepting the bag with the store logo when I go shopping for clothes. I like to think I’m quirky–but for a cause.
