Thanks for visiting Healthful Mama today! I’ll be on hiatus for a few weeks as my family makes some major changes. Today’s guest post is by Lisa of Mom Blogger Buzz. The infographic she presents brings up a great point: certain areas of the country have better access to healthier foods. So, is YOUR town affecting your optimal health?
Obesity is such a problem in the U.S. and abroad that I have been searching for ways to have a healthier lifestyle. According to the Huffington Post, the United States ranked #1 Fattest country in the developed world, based on a study by OECD, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
When I realized I was considered obese I knew I had to do something. Since we changed to a Vegan diet both my husband and I have lost weight, reduced our BMI, normalized our cholesterol and Basic Metabolic Panel.
On a previous post, I spoke about why our family decided to change our diet and how easy it has been to prepare our meals. When I saw this Infographic I was happy to see that our favorite supermarket, Trader Joe’s was on the list of some of the best stores to shop at! However, it is sad to see that your zip code can affect the choices that you have when it comes to the availability of supermarkets that offer healthier options.
What methods do you use to create a healthier lifestyle for your family? Which parts of this Infographic bothered you the most?

Nice post ! We haven’t gone vegan – but eat mostly vegetarian from 8-5, with small amounts of meat with dinner.
