Spring has arrived!
It’s time to lighten things up a bit on Healthful Mama! Bring on the sun and welcome, spring! I’ll admit, spring has been, generally, my least favorite season. When I lived on the East Coast, I hated the usual springtime indecisive bounce from cold to warm to chilly to hot, with large doses of dampness. I’m not a gardener by nature (thank goodness for a husband with a green thumb!), and, as strange as this may sound, I’m not a huge fan of grass. Where I am now, in New Mexico, sunny days aren’t hard to find. Spring brings a lot of windy weather, but it’s DRY–no bone-chilling wet days for me. The sign of spring are the same, though: budding green trees, flowers sprouting, and cacti blooming (okay, maybe you don’t have cacti in your neighborhood). I’m learning to appreciate the glow the desert gets as the warm, yellow flowers of the chamisa turn from grey to bright amarillo, as the aspens on the mountain begin to take on new growth, and the wealth of birds chirp endlessly in excitement.
I love opening the doors and windows and letting the fresh air indoors. A houseplant or flower has been placed in each room of our home, beautifying the environment and cleaning the air. I’m so excited to start projects like planting our veggie garden and preparing our yard for outdoor entertaining. I’ll be working with The Home Depot on a few projects, and I’m really psyched that their Garden Club offers tutorials for just about anything one might want to accomplish, from starting seedlings to building a backyard chicken coop, butterfly bed, or bee box. As a huge advocate of growing one’s own food when possible and of supporting and nurturing one’s local ecosystem, I couldn’t be more pleased to see these types of projects available across the nation.
Check out all of the projects you could tackle with the help of Home Depot’s Garden Club by visiting their site. Sign up for membership in the Garden Club (it’s free) and you’ll receive $5 off your first project, as well as over $300 in email savings each year. You’ll get access to eight additional projects, helpful videos, exclusive sneak-peeks, and expert advice. I especially like the to-do list feature, specially tailored to your region.
It’s home improvement time, and The Home Depot has everything you need for spring. No matter what projects you want to tackle, The Home Depot has you covered and can help you #DigIn to Spring.

I think the only project we want to tackle this spring is setting up a rain barrel. I need rain water for my garden/plants and I am sure my youngest son would like to stop making trips to the creek for water for my houseplants. 🙂
