There’s an old saying that goes “Eat like king in the morning, a prince at noon, and a pauper at night.” Meaning, you should start your day with a full meal: protein, grains, vegetables and eat less as you go through the day. Your body needs more energy in the morning to get through the day and less as you head towards bed.
So why not change up breakfast?
This will be quite a change if you’re used to starting your day with strictly carbs like cereal, a bagel, toast, granola, a muffin. Even if you make eggs in the morning, they won’t stick with you unless you’re pairing it with a whole grain and maybe some healthy fat.
My favorite breakfast? I kid you not: fish, brown rice, and spinach drizzled with olive oil. It’s filling, warming, and delicious. Try it sometime! If you can’t handle seafood in the morning, try eggs instead of the fish.
I’ll admit I don’t do this every day. I enjoy my common breakfast foods as much as the next gal. (Pumpkin French Toast? Yes, please!) But if I know I won’t have time to snack, or if there is leftover fish from the night before, or hell, if I’m REALLY HUNGRY, I make this breakfast.
Save your granola for dinner; you might just find out you’re feeling better already. 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I’m so glad that you did.
I’ve never had fish for breakfast, but I’ve had brown rice with cinnamon.
I look forward to reading more from you!
Best,

My husband still thinks I’m gross for eating fish in the morning–or anytime 😉

I have trouble eating large breakfasts. Meaning it makes me feel unwell. I can handle an egg and a piece of toast, but I love my raisin bran and grapenuts best.
