The new year is bringing a few inspiring events in which I hope you will join me!
The first is the Get Real in 2012 Challenge where the folks at Once a Month Mom are challenging you to change your eating to an unprocessed diet. If you’ve been following along, you know I participated in the October Unprocessed Challenge put on by Andrew Wilder at Eating Rules. One of my criticisms of October Unprocessed was that it seemed daunting to those unfamiliar with unprocessed eating and many people (moms, particularly) didn’t give it a fair chance. Although the Get Real Challenge is a year-long series, I am convinced that the transition to unprocessed eating can happen for people who follow along. It seems absolutely plausible to be successful, considering the FREE menu plans available on onceamonthmom.com, the incredible bloggers they have lined up for supportive guest posts, and the network you can join through the Get Real Facebook page. I hope you’ll join me as I fully intend on participating and blogging about the challenges of eating unprocessed full-time. Want to get started right away? Check out my post on preparing whole grains in advance or any of my posts from the October Unprocessed Challenge.
I thought I’d also use this discussion about transitions to introduce you to a new series I’ll be posting: Off-Topic Tuesdays (OTT). When I first began this blog, OTT is something I always wanted to write, since I come across so many interesting subjects that I’d like to discuss. If there are any topics which you’d like to see appear, please let me know! My life certainly isn’t ALL about unprocessed eating and a natural lifestyle; I don’t think Healthful Mama has to be, either!
Finally, I’m truly excited about the first FULL issue of Kaia Magazine to be released in February. If you haven’t subscribed to this free magazine yet, you can sign-up here. Are you a writer who is interested in appearing in Kaia? You can submit your work at any time! Kaia is also offering introductory pricing on advertising, so if you have a green or natural business or blog, please contact media@kaiamagazine.com for rates. We’re working hard to bring you a publication that make “sustainable living in real life” a reasonable goal in 2012.
